The Happy Pita – Born July 1st 2014
Hi There! My name is Steve Bernstein, owner of The Happy Pita. Here is a quick story of how The Happy Pita was born.
While attending college in Rhode Island I was introduced to ‘falafel’ for the first time. The locals always raved about it – I had no idea what it was – maybe some sort of waffle-sandwich, I thought. I stuck to my classic Chicken Caesar Pita Wrap for the better part of a year, before finally branching out to trying the falafel, tzatziki sauce, and other Mediterranean staples. I was instantly in love.
I decided right at that moment that I needed to bring falafel and Lebanese style pita wraps to the Philadelphia area.
To make the dream a reality I worked in the corporate world for seven long years. I was plotting, dreaming, saving & waiting for the right time. I was fortunate enough to have two best friends who are incredible graphic designers. We sat down together, brainstormed, and The Happy Pita was born.
Happy Pita Retail & Main Line Commissary
In the never-ending search for a commercial kitchen space for rent in the suburbs, we decided to take matters into our own hands. To help share the costs we decided to split the restaurant space in half. Half of the space will be for the Happy Pita dining concept, the other half of the space will be for rent to fellow food truckers, caterers, bakers, and food manufacturers. We are excited to help other young businesses get their start, and we are ecstatic to finally be serving you seven days a week!
